Have you had this kind of problem before? You have an idea for your card but can’t find any specific stamps or dies in the current Stampin’ Up! catalogs? Having boys who are very active in sports (baseball, football and basketball to be specific), I often wish Stampin’ Up! had more products in sports theme:-)
Recently I was working on a fundraiser project for my son’s travel baseball team and needed to make baseball theme cards. But what would you do when you can’t find any baseball products in the current Stampin’ Up! catalogs??? Well, I do have some baseball theme stamps and dies in my collection that I could use but I was determined to stick with the “current” Stampin’ Up! products!!! Then, I remembered the other day I saw a baseball quote on a rustic wood plaque that showed up on my Facebook wall. It was about little boys with balls, bats and baseball hats… This sounds just like my 11 year old son!!!
I started going through the catalogs and caught one small stamp in the Christmas Pines Stamp Set that I thought I could make a baseball with a circle punch!
First I punched out Whisper White Thick Card Stock with the 1-3/8″ Circle Punch. Then I stamped this image in Cherry Cobbler twice. Perfect!!!
I took about 20″ of Gold Metallic Thread and applied Snail Adhesive to the back of my baseball. I took one end of the thread and kept making loops, and secured with Dimensionals.
For my rustic background, I stamped the Hardwood Stamp in Soft Suede on a piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock.

I die cut Cherry Cobbler Card Stock with the medium and smallest pine bough dies from the Pretty Pines Thinlits and adhered them on the Crumb Cake background piece. I placed my baseball with Gold Metallic Thread over where two pine boughs meet. That’s it!!!
I made some happy birthday cards with the Happy Birthday Thinlits and thank you cards with the Thankful Thoughts Stamp Set.
